Sickening video shows moment of impact in Ashcroft fatal crash which killed young boys – as two men are arrested

Vision has emerged of the horrifying moment a speeding car smashed into a tree in southwest Sydney killing two young boys inside, as police reveal a major development in the case.

Shocking CCTV has emerged from the scene of the double fatal car crash in Ashcroft on Monday, showing the moment the speeding car crashed into a power pole and tore in two.

Two boys were killed in the high-speed crash at Maxwell Ave in Ashcroft, identified as best mates Braydan Collier, 13, and Kaine Bell, 14.

Police have since arrested two men in relation to the crash – which saw the adult driver and a passenger flee the scene on foot, abandoning the two young boys.

The footage, which can be watched exclusively on The Daily Telegraph, shows the moment of impact when the silver Ford sedan smashes through a power pole, splitting in two, and throwing one of the boys from the car.

The car’s engine can be heard roaring as it nears the crash site at high-speed before it skids out of control, careening sideways toward the footpath.

Police believe the vehicle was travelling about 50km/h above the speed limit.

It ploughs through bins and a tree by the street footpath before smashing into a power pole, which sliced the car in two, leaving debris spread over the street.

After the crash, the video shows a man on a dirt bike riding up to the scene as a voice can be heard yelling out.

Two men aged 23 and 27 were arrested at Wetherill Park Police Station about 12.30pm on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the fatal crash.

Both were then taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for assessment and injuries allegedly sustained during the crash.

It is understood the men arrested are Nicholas Thew and Anthony Morris, who allegedly fled the scene after the crash, per The Daily Telegraph. The pair were the targets of a police manhunt following the incident.

Braydan had just celebrated his 13th birthday on Sunday, the day before he and his best mate would be killed in the horrifying smash.

In earlier vision of the crash’s immediate aftermath, an adult male can be seen pulling himself from the front wreck before moving toward where the rear of the car is.

He is seen passing the body of one boy laying on the ground before pulling the other from the backseat of the car, pushing him to the ground and running back to help free another man from the front of the vehicle.

He returns to check on the child who had been thrown from the car, before putting his hands on his head and running away.

Locals could later be seen trying to help the Braydan and Kaine, before covering their bodies with blankets.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden described the scene as “absolute destruction” on Monday.

“Just from seeing the scene from the side of the road looking at the absolute destruction that’s taken place to this vehicle and the loss of two young lives being ejected from that vehicle, anyone who would have witnessed that crash will no doubt be traumatised by it,” he told reporters.

“Two families are now going to be experiencing the absolute heartache that is to have some lives taken from them, which are clearly avoidable.”

A crime scene has been established, which specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit will forensically examine.

The crash happened just metres from the front door of a suburban home, although there are no further reports of other people hurt or vehicles or property damaged in the incident.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Anonymous reports can also be made to Crime Stoppers online.
