Home targeted by second firebombing in days destroying $300,000 luxury car

A suburban house has been targeted with a firebomb for the second time in a matter of days, ruining a $300,000 luxury car.

Emergency services were called to the Barnards Ave house at Hurstville in Sydney’s south in the early hours of Tuesday morning following reports of a car fire.

Police found a white Mercedes convertible ablaze upon arrival, with six NSW Fire and Rescue crews called in to attend the fire.

The blaze took the crews 20 minutes to extinguish.

The $300,000 vehicle was completely destroyed, while the house suffered minor cosmetic damage to its outer walls and some windows blown out.

Vehicles parked next to the Mercedes also received minor damage.

Two people who were home at the time of the fire were evacuated from the house for a time before being allowed to re-enter.

Friends have been seen entering the house Tuesday morning but the tenants have remained inside the home as police investigate.

Neighbours were also evacuated from their homes until the fire was under control and there are no reports of any injuries.

The same Mercedes was reportedly set on fire at around 1am Friday, but self extinguished before any major damage occurred.

Police have set up a crime scene and have begun investigations with officers spotted removing several items of interest from the property early Tuesday morning.
