Hugh Jackman has shown off his jacked arms as he prepares to reprise his role as Wolverine on the big screen – and it’s sent fans into a spin.
Hugh Jackman is getting in serious shape as he prepares for his hotly anticipated feature in Deadpool 3.
The Australian actor, 54, is set to reprise his famed character Wolverine in the upcoming third sequel for the Ryan Reynolds-led Marvel franchise, and an Instagram photo he shared during his recent training session has sent his fans into a spin.
The Sydney-born star showed off his incredibly jacked arms as he embarks on a gruelling fitness journey ahead of filming later this year.
Jackman also used the impressive photo as an opportunity to have a dig at his long-time fake nemesis Reynolds, 46, writing, “He’s only 46. I’m older. But it’s not a competition.”
A string of A-list stars commented on the post, with Arnold Schwarzenegger posting a ‘strong arm’ emoji, while a string of others wrote: “Huge Jackman.”
“Wolverine mode ACTIVATED,” another said.
It comes after Jackman told CNN in January his entire focus for six months would be getting in shape to play Wolverine again, after he recently finished up his stint in The Music Man on Broadway.
“I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months,” Jackman said.
“And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start.”
Jackman is back as Wolverine.
Jackman and Reynolds sent the their fanbases into a spin in September when it was revealed Jackman would make a surprise comeback for the character he first took on 22 years ago, and retired in 2017.
A video clip was uploaded to Twitter of Reynolds promoting Deadpool 3, in which he talked about brainstorming ideas for the hotly anticipated third instalment.
“I’ve had to really search my soul for this one. We need to stay true to the character. Find new depth and motivation and meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart,” Reynolds began.
“It’s been an incredible challenge that’s forced me to reach down and reach inside and I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here, and terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

At this point, Reynolds paused before Jackman casually walked by in the background.
Reynolds asked, “Hey, Hugh, do you want to play Wolverine one more time?”
The duo are renowned for their ongoing fake beef, with a Twitter war between them going as far back as 2017.
Highlights have included Jackman asking people to urinate on Reynolds’ Hollywood Walk of Fame star, and Reynolds quipping, “Pretty sure those are protesters,” in response to a post of Jackman posing with fans in Beijing.
