Low-key Byron Bay has long attracted the attention of Hollywood power players.
Chris Hemsworth brought plenty of attention and star power to the town back in 2014 when he purchased a 4.2 hectare property for $7 million. He and wife Elsa Pataky lived in the original eight-room home before knocking it down to build a $20 million mega-mansion.
He’s regularly hosted his famous brother, Liam Hemsworth, in the years since along with Matt Damon and his family.
Zac Efron also famously rode out most of the pandemic living in the coastal town, while American actress Melissa McCarthy chose to base herself there for a small stint after wrapping up production on Nicole Kidman’s Nine Perfect Strangers TV series in 2021.
