The desperate five week search for a 28-year-old woman who “vanished” after leaving a factory in Melbourne has ended in tragedy.
Sarah Weatherstone’s body was found in Narre Warren, in the south east of the city, on Friday, police said. She had last been seen on March 23.
The 28-year-old’s heartbroken mother Judith Weatherstone said her daughter died by “accidental suicide” in an emotional tribute on Facebook.
“It’s with a heavy heart that Stephen, Josh and myself would like to let everybody know that today we have been told of the passing of our beautiful daughter Sarah to accidental suicide,” she said.
“Rest in peace beautiful, forever in our hearts.
“Thanks for the support and love over the past five weeks.”
In a statement, Victoria Police said Sarah’s death did not appear to be suspicious and thanked the public for helping in the search.
Earlier, police conducted a three-day search in the Hallam Valley Wetlands with the assistance of Air Wing, Search and Rescue, SES, police drones and the Mounted Branch.
Authorities also released footage of her last known movements, showing her leaving a factory alone in Narre Warren, as they appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Ms Weatherstone last week told reporters was very “close” with her daughter, who reportedly suffered from a borderline personality disorder.
“I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy,” she said.
“It’s a living nightmare. I see this on my TV shows. I don’t want to live it.”
The distraught mother said it was extremely out of character for her daughter not to be in contact, even in the case of a fight. She missed her birthday earlier this month as well as a family trip for a wedding.
“It’s like she’s vanished. She’s a very family orientated girl,” she said.
Dozens of tributes for Sarah Weatherstone from loved ones and friends poured in following news of her death.
“She was so beautiful,” Naominez Hubbard wrote.
“Such a beautiful girl, gone way too soon,” Amanda Freeman said.
