Police have arrested a 33-year-old woman as another fights for life in hospital after allegedly being set alight in Victoria.
A woman is fighting for life in hospital after she was allegedly lit on fire by another woman in Victoria’s north.
Police and paramedics rushed to Middlesex Crescent in Shepparton, 190km north of Melbourne, at about 6.30pm on Monday after hearing reports a woman had been set alight.
They arrived to find a 20-year-old woman suffering burn injuries.
Officers believe the young woman was set alight by a 33-year-old woman who was known to her.
Police were called to the street near the town’s IGA.
The 33-year-old allegedly fled from the scene before she was found by officers.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed the 20-year-old was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to her upper body.
The older woman was also airlifted to the same hospital suffering serious injuries to her upper body.
She remains under police guard.
